A brief break for birthdays and then... more enamelling!

So it was my husband Travis's birthday this weekend. We celebrated heartily, ate bbq, played some Queen rockband, and I made this delicious chocolate ganache raspberry cake. What? Cake making is an art. Really.

And in the past couple of days I've been working on the snake piece! This is a picture of it with the first few layers of dark gray colored enamel and black details on the wings painted on top with watercolor enamels. Apologies for the bad picture... I need better light in my studio.

wip snake with wings

These are images of a work in progress for an upcoming gallery show. Its eventually going to be a winged snake. Today I sawed till my little hands couldn't saw no more. I'm cutting the copper out to be enameled and so far I've completed the snake but I'm still working on the wings. The sketches next to the copper are close approximations of what the finished pieces will look like, black on dark gray, to give it a shadowy, ghostly look. My intention is that the imagery has a connection to Athena, but I think I'm gonna be more subtle with the title, something like: Shadows of Her.

WIP and New Pieces!

I completed some pieces today, and started some more! Pictures of work in progress and completed pieces. The idea behind the gradients is to make some simple pieces that can be a little more low end. The green ones are gonna be trees and roots, and the light pink ones are gonna be gold suns for my mom.
